The maritime infrastructure in Mexico is one of the most important in Latin America. In total, Mexico has 117 seaports distributed along its coasts in the Gulf of Mexico, Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea. Of these, 65 are for commercial use, while the other 52 are fishing, sports and tourist ports.
Seaports in the Gulf of Mexico
There are a total of 48 seaports on these coasts of Mexico. Some of the most important ones are:
Veracruz: It is the most important port in Mexico, located on the east coast of the country, in the Gulf of Mexico. It is the main point of entry and exit of goods, with an annual traffic of more than 20 million tons.
Tampico: This port is located in the state of Tamaulipas, and is one of the main fishing and cargo ports in the Gulf of Mexico, it is the second most important port in the country in terms of the export of petroleum products.
Ciudad del Carmen: This port is located in the state of Campeche and is the most important port in the country for the oil industry.
Mexico has a privileged geographical location, which allows it to be a strategic point for the export and import of products; ports are connected to different countries around the world, and provide space for a constant flow of goods.
